The American Automobile association has been con- tinuously on the job to secure some reduction if not the elimination of this tax. . Splendid cooperation was given by the local clubs in carrying on the campaign of information as to the discriminatory features of this war excise tax. Action of Congress in re- ducing the tax on tires. accessories, and repair parts from five per cent to two and a half per cent and the removal of the tax on the motor truck chassis, costing less than $1,000 was the result. "This action of Congress will give a very substantial relief to the farmer and business men who use a small truck in their business. All motorists will benefit by this reduction in the nuisance taxes on tires, accessories and repair parts. We are hopeful that the Senate will concur in this action." Nu- merous unsolicited letters commend- ing Cadillac service as well as a num- ber of personal expressions of satisfac- ticn have come to the office of the superintendent of the central station, 2301 South Michigan ave., and to the offices of the managers of the four Cadillac community branches.
