WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 1924 A fternoon Musical a Sunday Feature at Indian Hill Club NDIAN Hill is introducing a Sun- day afternoon musical for the first time this week. At five o'clock in the afternoon, Miss Helen Freund and Harold Tyres will appear in con- cert, with Troy Sanders at the piano. Helen Freund, a brilliant young coloratura soprano, is a protege of Mary Garden, and has been engaged by the Chicago Civic Opera company for next season. She will make her debut as "Sophie" in "Werther" with Miss Garden, and will also sing other important roles. Miss Freund has a voice of very lovely quality, and a charming per- sonality. She has appeared as soloist with the Civic Orchestra, Frederick Stock conducting, with the Little Symphony Orchestra, Finston's Or- chestra, and in many concerts and re- citals at various clubs. Harold Ayres has been pronounced by leading music critics, as "one of the best young American violinists now before the public." He has studied under such masters as Sametini, Knei- sel, Sevcik and Auer. He made his first public appearance at the age of six, and since then has met with great success in all parts of the United States. During this past season he has played in many concerts with Charles Marshall of the Civic Opera company and has many important en- gagements for the coming year. Leopold Auer has said that Harold Ayres is the most gifted American pupil who has come to him. A wedding supper will be served to the guésts at the close of the service which the Rev. Gilbert Stansell will read at 8:30 o'clock. Miss Shurtleff has chosen as her Miss Helen Shurtleff two attendants, her sisters, Mrs. John C. Campbell and Mrs. Munroe Cole. William Motter of New York City will serve as Mr. Klahr's best man. A number of parties are being planned for the bride elect, but at the present time the definite date for only | one of them has been set.
