South Dakota and Cincin- nati on Schedule Two grid games that will be of the nature of sectional contests are to be played on Northwestern field this fall when the Purple eleven meets Cin- cinnati university and South Dakota university. It will be the first appear- ance of these teams in Chicago for many years and will, football observ- ers say, go far towards providing var- iety to the games to be played in this section during the forthcoming sea- son. South Dakota will open the Purple schedule on October 4, with Cincinnati scheduled for the following week-end. Coach Knute Rockne's Notre Dame athletes will make their appearance in Chicago after three year's absence when they battle the Purple on North- western field in a post-season contest on November 22. The Irish gridders are popular attractions wherever they appear and their contest with Coach Thistlethwaite's men will prove, it is predicted, one of the outstanding games in this territory during the fall. Another addition to the Purple schedule this fall will be the Univer- 4 A of Michigan to be played at Ann 'bor on Novémber 8: he Purple ill resume football relations with lapse of several years and the contest will be one of the stiffest on North- western's schedule. On the following week Coach Thistlethwaite will send his men against the Chicago Maroons on Stagg Field. Indiana and Purdue, traditional rivals of the Purple, will journey Evanstonward this fall for their an- nual engagement. The Purple will be out to avenge the defeats meted out by these teams last fall in a hectic contest and it is the purpose of the Northwestern squad to atone for this performance. 300 Are Registered at the Country Day School With a complete faculty meeting last Saturday and a regular schedule of work last Monday, the North Shore Country Day school entered upon its sixth school year with a larger staff of teachers and more than 300 chil- dren. Work on the new gymnasium is progressing steadily, giving promise that the boys will soon be in their spacious new quarters. Monday saw the long line of chil- dren going into the new lunch room with its increased facilities for speedy and effective service; while the after- noon found many of the children and faculty surveying and marking off the athletic fields for hockey and football. By the end of this first week North Shore has made its adjustments to in- creased size and new building spaces and is running with the same regu- larity and vigor that marks its work later on.
