It is undoubtedly true, however, that the owner is frequently not familiar with the many modern applications of electricity for labor saving and comfort, and. thinks of it only in con- nection with lighting purposes for which it was first used. This results in insufficient outlets and awkwardly placed: switches, and it is only after he is living in the house that these errors become ap- parent. As always, the making of changes or additions is then a more troublesome and expensive proceeding than correct foresight and provision in the first place would have cost. Perhaps no one thing has more completely revolutionized modern life than the application of electricity to our daily problems. The difference between the dim, flickering candle of our grandfathers, and the steady, cheerful light of the electric bulb is but one example. And just as one push of a button will do the work that was once performed by the time- consuming operation of lighting a candle, caring for its drippings and replacing it at brief intervals, so, too, has electricity been made available as an ever-ready servant--swift, untir- ing, efficient, willing, in every depart- ment of the household. Whether it be cooking, cleaning, lighting, heat- ing, electricity can do it more quickly, more safely, more simply than it could otherwise be accomplished. Efficient Wiring Reduces Bills A common misunderstanding exists in the feeling that the possession of numerous outlets for electric current increases the cost of current con- sumed. Candles Can be Secured In Interesting Variety Candles are made from wax, paraffin, tallow, palm oil and various other sub- stances. They are etiher dipped, rolled 'or molded in order to form the desired size and shape. Candles were made by dipping long _before the molding process was invent- ed. The wicks which hang from a sup- porting rod are dipped into a large vat, containing the melted substance. The saturated wicks are then cooled and again dipped and cooled, repeating the process until the desired size is obtained. These candles resemble the bayberry} candle and may be colored any desired shade. True bayberry candle comes only in the characteristic greenish shade. Bayberry candles are made from a wax which forms the outside coating on the berries of the bayberry tree. These trees grow in various parts of the United 'States. This wax must be boiled, and strained before it can be used candles. There is another kind known as the pine .cone and corn candles which are examples of fancy molded candles.
