He told of the experiences of the teams on the way overseas and of their trials and triumphs at the games. Fitch broke the world's record in the 400 meter run one morning. His time was 47 4-5 seconds. In the afternoon he was to race again. He made the same time at this trial but was beaten by one-fifth of a second by Liddell, of Scotland. The boys made a very en- thusiastic audience and enjoyed Fitch's story immensely.
