2 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JANUARY 10, 1925 MASONS PLAN ~ ACTIVE MONTH Many Social Events Ar- ranged for January At the statell 'meeting of Winnetka Lodge, No. 1078, A. F. and A. M., held January 6, several important an- nouncements were made regarding so- cial and other activities of 'the lodge for the month of January. Of special interest to the mothers, wives, daughters and sisters of Win- netka Masons was the announcement that special provisions were being made for the entertainment of their Temple club on January 20. On that date the finals in the Billiard and Pool tournaments are to be plaved and immediately after the games dancing and refreshments will be in order downstairs in the Masonic temple building. A card party and dance was an- nounced by the Square club of the lodge to be held at the temple on the evening of January 23, and rather ela- borate preparations have been made to insure a good time. Something new and novel in the orchestra line 'has been engaged, and the committee states that the music will be unusually fine, and the stunts interesting and uni- que. Tickets for this affair will be in the hands of members for distribu- tion. . The evening of January 27 has been set aside for a reception to those men who became members of the lodge during 1924, and Worshipful Master, William F. Graene, is authority for the statement that he will see to it that this event will be one long re- membered in local Masonic circles. Although social activities will take up several of the meeting nights dur- ing the month, degree work has not heen overlooked, and the month will terminate with a special meeting on January 31, at 3:30 o'clock, with work on the third degree, dinner being serv- ed at 6:30 o'clock. F. France for the re-zoning of his prop- erty, the 30 feet fronting on Chest- nut street just south of the Winnetka Dairy. This is now zoned as "B" resi- dential, and he wants it changed to "C" commercial. At a previous hearing, last April, the Board of Appeals recommended that the zoning ordinance remain un- changed, The Board of Appeals is composed of 'the following villagers: Robert Kingery, Charles IL. Byron Coran T. Davis, Spencer S. Beman and Harold W. Snell. The meeting will be held in the council chambers at the Village hall. Time Is Here to Pay Vehicle and Dog Tax Chief WW. M. Petersen of the local police wishes to remind villagers that vehicle and dog taxes are now due. The police department allows a cer- tain length of time for residents to at- tend to these matters at their conveni- ence but there no reason to un- duly prolong the delay in paying the taxes, he says, as they must, in all events, be paid. Make it easier for everyone by taking care of these matters as soon as poss:ble, he suggests. is CE TTT nnn AMSON told Delilah that his strength lay in his long hair. the S barber regularly.
