At the Monday night meeting of the Village Ticket group at the Greeley school Mr. Miller explained to the audience that the charter under which the village is operated provides for a marshal and allows the treas- urer to deposit the village funds any- where he cares to and retain the in- terest.. It has always been customary, in late years, to require from the can- didate for. either of these offices a pledge that he will not excercise his rights under the charter. The marshal does not interfere with the police de- partment and the treasurer does not handle the village funds, nor keep the interest from them. Mr. Miller stated that so far as he knew neither George F. Here Are the Candidates The candidates are as follows: On Theodore Flynn, for marshal and collec- tor; Mrs. Carrie B. Prouty and Walter T. Fisher for library trustees; Clark T. Northrop for police magistrate; Arlan W. Converse and Sidney Wellbeloved for park commissioners. On the Tax Payers ticket there are no candidates for president, police magis- trate or library trustees. The other nominees are: Justus Chancellor, Jr. Peter Johansen and J. C. Replogle for trustees; Arthur M. Kloepfer for treas- urer; George F. Batten for marshal and collector; Carl Niemann and Bernard E. Hobart for park commissioners. It is for the latter offices that the hardest fight is being made by the Tax Payers group, as victory there would satisfy the main issues of their campaign. The village election will be held Tuesday, April 7. Both sides are urging all resi- dents to inform themselves on the issues and go out and vote.
