14 WINNETKA TALK October 24, 1925 ER Bride and Groom at Recent Wedding Are Northwestern Alumni One of the largest and most beauti- 1 ful of Oak Park's weddings took place in the First Baptist Church of Oak Park, Thursday, October 8, when Miss Katherine Redfearn became the bride of Donald Broune Calhoun, son of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Calhoun of Glencoe, the Rev. Douglas H. Cornell, pastor of the Glencoe Union church, officiating. The church, itself a beautiful edi- fice, was very artistically decorated. The organ loft was banked with palms, ferns, and large russet-gold and yellow chrysanthemums, and stately 36-inch tapers in huge candelabras provided the church's only illumination. Phyllis Trojan of Rogers Park, as maid of honor, wore a chiffon frock of apple green. Mrs. Harry Redfearn, as matron of honor, was attired in petunia chiffon, and the two bridesmaids, Jane McKenna of La Grange and Eleanor Kent Calhoun, sister of the groom, were dressed in lavender, and they all carried shower bouquets of garden flowers and roses. Eleanor Frances Gambill and Ruth Daley of Oak Park, the two little flower girls, were in old fashioned costumes of flowered taffeta made with light bodies and full skirts touching the floor, and each carried a quaint nosegay of flowers. The bride was beautifully, yet simply gowned in white satin with Duchess point lace and pearls. A coronet of rose point lace held her veil of tulle in place, and a five yard train hung from the shoulders where it was fas- tened by pearl ornaments. Her bou- quet was of valley lilies and white roses. Preston Broune Calhoun was his brother's best man, and Harry Red- fearn and Berry Redfearn, the bride's brothers, and Dennison Paden of Evanston were the ushers. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the dignified and beauti- ful entrance lobby of the church which was banked with fir trees, ferns and flowers. The wedding supper was then served to 250 guests. Owing to the fact that Mr. Calhoun has been sent by his firm to new territory in Ohio, he and his bride left at once for their home in Findlay, Ohio, postponing their wedding trip until January when they will spend a month in the South.
