---- October 31, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 15 Benefit for Voters League to Be Large North Shore Event Many kind friends of the Winnetka League of Woman Voters have already forward with attractive come most prizes for the League benefit card party on November 12. Mrs. Isaac Rothschild, chairman of the card par- ty committee, reports that she has re- ceived over twenty. Among them are an Italian water pitcher, a silk um- brella, decorated candy boxes, and gay scarfs. Every table will have a prize. The card party will be given at the Winnetka Woman's club at 2 o'clock. The tables are proving very popu- lar, not only in Winnetka, but in all the north shore towns. Some sales have been made even in Chicago. Mrs. L. J. Bertoli of Hubbards Woods has taken three tables for a party of twelve friends from Hubbard Woods. Others who have purchased tickets are Mrs. C. H. McNie, Mrs. Willough- by Walling, Mrs. Morris K. Wilson, Mrs. Rudolph Matz, Mrs. Charles Schwartz, Mrs. H. J. McPharlin, Mrs. William Hale, Mrs. B. W. Ander- son, Mrs. Montague Ferry, Mrs. A. Denis, Mrs. John Vander Vries, Mrs. Percival Hunter, Mrs. I. M. Greeley, Mrs. Charles Strong and Mrs. Roger Sherman. Tickets for the affair may be pur- chased from Mrs. Roger Sherman or from any of Mrs. Rothschild's com- mittee: Mesdames Frank Crawford, Herman Beardslee, Percival Hunter and John Vander Vries. A benefit reading will take place on the afternoon of the card party at the attractive home of Mrs. Hathaway Watson on Sunset road. Tickets for the card party will also be good for the reading, it is stated. Mrs. Burton Hanson, well known for her charm- ing character studies, will give the reading, telling in dialect, stories of Canada and the South. Announce Annual Bazaar for Noted Memorial Home The annual bazaar for the benefit of the Sarah Hackett Stevenson Memorial Home will be held at the Parkway hotel, 2100 Lincoln Park west, November 5 and 6, from 10 o'clock in the morning until 10 at night. The bazaar is sponsored by forty- one women's clubs, many of which are having booths. Card parties will be given both afternoons, in charge of Miss Martha Moe, and the dinners and luncheons served both days will be under the direction of Mrs. H. H. White. Thursday evening, the dinner guests will be entertained by several of the stars now appearing in prominent theaters, and Paul Ash will be there te entertain the guests from 5:30 un- til 6:30, it is announced. New Trier Girls Will Entertain Mothers Tuesday Following the lead of the boys' Hi club, the Girls' club of New Trier high school will give a dinner for girls of the school and their mothers Tuesday evening, November 3. It is the plan of the club to make this an annual affair, as is the Fathers' and Sons' dinner given by the boys' organization. The dinner is under the supervision of the social committee, of which Helen Fraser is the chairman. The committee has planned a delicious dinner and an interesting program. The New Trier Trio will play, one of the girls of the school who has traveled in Africa is going to tell some of her experiences, Marie Flentye will play the piano, and Teresa Bachus has promised to come back and sing and dance. Better Building, Topic Before Realty Directors A proposal for the encouragement of better building will come before the board of directors of the National As- sociation of Real Estate boards when they meet in Chicago this week. The meeting, in which the advisory board of past presidents of the associa- tion and present officers of the body will also have part, is the regular quarterly meeting. The directors will set the place for the holding of the association's annual convention, to take place in June of 1926, and will discuss plans for the coming annual business meeting of the association, to be held at New Orleans January 19-22. Mrs. L. LL. Lodwig has just returned to her home in Centerville, Iowa, after a fortnight's visit with her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Nicholes of 816 Forest avenue. Wednesday, November 4, the alum- nae of Goucher college, among whom are a number of north shore residents, will take over the New Campus theatre in Evanston for benefit performances of the picture, "As No Man Has Loved," adapted from Edward Everett Hale's story, "The Man Without a Country." ~ PERMANENT WAVING.
