WINNETKA TALK December 5, 1925 In Scoutdom 4 . On' Friday, November 20, the first certificates were received from nation- al headquarters and were given out to the different scouts. The different patrols had separate meetings during the week and the work that they 'did is as follows: Troop 1.--Joe Riddle and Bob Reschke: made some First Aid Kits and presented them. The troop then discussed their good and bad points. Then for awhile all the troop practiced signaling by the International Code, that is, dots and dashes. To finish up the evening they went into the gym to have games. Troop 2--A new scoutmaster was in- troduced to the boys, Mr. Iredale. They then got acquainted and dis- cussed Scout work with him. They had different groups practicing knots and boxing the compass. These things were for the Scout tests. To end up the Scouts had an O'Grady drill-down. : Troop 3.--The Scouts took a vote, deciding on green and grey colors for the troop colors, so they are expected to get green neckerchiefs with grey slides. The different patrols, of eight boys each, then held meetings during which they discussed patrol colors and names. They then had a discussion of the necessary contents of a first aid kit. The making of First Aid Kits was then assigned to the boys. To finish the Scout meetifig a patrol knot tying contest was held. Ralph Johansen's patrol had the fastest time on the most knots. An O'Grady drill down for all the Scouts was held in which Ralph Johansen and Fred and ajoint meeting was held in the Assembly room under "Chief" Davies. For the first half hour the boys were assigned to first class scouts to work on their respective ranks. When the scouts reassembled, an O'Grady drilldown was held. Gould Davies stood up the longest in this contest. The big feature of the eve-- ning, though, was a boxing match be- tween Fred Rummler and Bruce Thomas. The honors were about even. The last thing done was an initiation of two second class scouts. Joe Riddle passed his test satisfactorily and was invested with the second class pin. Frank E.
