4 WINNETKA TALK December 12, 1925 Col. C. W. Castle New Commander of Spanish War Vets Col. Charles W. Castle, 226 Wood- bine avenue, Wilmette, has been elected commander of Evanston Camp, No. 57, of the United Spanish War Veterans and will be installed in his new office early in January. Colonel Castle is a graduate of West Point, and served during the Spanish- American war in Porto Rico and Cuba through two campaigns in the Philippines, on the Mexican border and throughout the World war. He has been an instructor at West Point, at the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin, and is well known as one of the most able in- structors in infantry tactics in the United States Army. He was retired in 1920 at his own request after 30 years' service. Comrade H. R. Hargis, 1420 Wash- ington avenue, Wilmette, was re- elected officer of the day in the Evanston Camp. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Cable, Sheridan road, Glencoe, are in New York and are returning home next week. New Japanese Opera to be Repeated December 21 "Namiko San," the new Japanese opera by Aldo Franchetti, introduced to the world by the Chicago Civic Opera company Friday of this week, will have its second presentation Mon- day evening, December 21. As it is a short work, "The Daughter of the Regiment" will be sung with it, con- stitutmg a most unique bill. The oc- casion will mark the first presentation of the latter opera this year. Another new opera by a native com- poser, also sung in English "A Light from St. Agnes," will have its second hearing as a matinee bill on the day following Christmas, Saturday, Decem- ber 26. The novelty will be coupled with "I Pagliacci." Dr. and Mrs. F. W.
