They are "The Unholy Three", with Lon Chaney, and "Shore Leave", with Richard Barthelmess. "The Unholy Three" will be shown Monday and Tuesday, December 28 and 29. This picture would come pretty close to victory in a race for the title of "best picture of the year." It is very unusual; a crook drama that is different, with no sentimental glori- fying of crime. The cast is perfect, although the only well known naianes, besides that of the star, are Mae Busch and Matt Moore. It is thrill- ing, gripping, and has an ending that 1s tense with drama. When it is all over you will have to think twice he- fore you can tell who is really the villain. There will also be a Hal Roach comedy and chapter six of the serial "Wild West" will be shown at the Tuesday matinee. On Wednesday and Thursday, De- cember 30 and 31, the feature picture will be "Hogan's Alley," with an all- star cast including Monte Blue, Patsy Ruth Miller, Mary Carr and Louise Fazenda. This production is a fast comedy-drama, in which there are such thrills as airplane stunts, prize fights, a train wreck ard many others, With it will be shown a Harry Lang- don comedy, "All Night Long". Mr. Langdon is given the title of "King of the Laughmakers" and he certainly deserves it in this picture. There will also be a Pathe review. Dick Barthelmess in "Shore Ieave" will start the year out right for you.. This picture will be seen Friday and Saturday, January 1 and 2. Dick as "Bilge" Smith, the tough little gob, will make you like him as you never have before. Beside the feature there will be a Buster and Tige comedy, "Oh Buster" and a Pathe news reel. There will be a special matinee on New Years day at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon. ; HOYBURN THEATRE Bebe Daniels in a new picture "The Solendid Crime." will be seen at the Hoyburn theatre Monday. Tuesday and Wednesdav, December 28, 29 and 30. This film is a fast crook comedy- melodrama, which is pepned up to a mile-a-minute pace by Miss Daniels ard a strong cast. Milton Sills, in his great picture "The Knockout," will be seen on Thursday. Friday and Saturday. "The Knockout"--an FEarl Hudson screen version of M. D. Crawford's "The Comeback," is a story of romance and adventure. Lambert Hillyer di- rected and its cast includes Lorna Duveen, Jed Prouty, Claude King, John Philip Kolb, Harlan Knight and others. HOWARD THEATRE Charlie Chaplin's newest, greatest comedy, "The Gold Rush" will delight patrons of the Howard theatre next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December 28 to 31 inclusive. This picture had a long run in the loop, but many persons did not see it and will welcome this chance to enjoy it at their neighborhood movie. Charley is at the top of his form in this production. It is one long, up- roarious laugh--the whole 10 reel of it. Charlie's monchalance as he walks along the edge of a precipice, one foot occasionally slipping over the edge, is unequalled. His antics in preparing and eating his shoe for Christmas din- ner are simply indescribable. "The Man on the Box" is an adapta- tion of the celebrated novel and play from the pen of Harold MacGrath. On the stage, Chaplin's role was played by Henry E. Dixey. The story con- cerns the romantically amusing ad- ventures of Bob Warburton, young, wealthy and charming, who hires out as a coachman. Gives Wife Residence As Christmas Present Mr. and Mrs. James Deutsch have sold their bungalow at 777 Michigan avenue, Wilmette, to I. R. Warshawsky for an announced sum of $60,000.
