od December 26, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 5 Winnetka-Wilmette Rotarians Enjoy Joint Yule Party Winnetka Rotary club will be host to members of the Wilmette Rotary club at luncheon Wednesday noon, De- iember 30, at Community House. A program appropriate to the New Year spirit will be given under direction of the local club. Wednesday of this week the Win- netka Rotarians were guests at a Christmas party staged by the Wil- mette Rotary club at the Ouilmette Country club. Santa Claus was there in style and every man at the party came away with a gift--most of the contributions quite significant of the business or profession represented by the recipient. This held true in gen- eral although in some instances gifts went by opposites, so to speak. One of the most interesting presenta- tions of the day was the gift of six toy policemen to H. L. Woolhiser, Winnetka village manager, the gift was accompanied by the inscription: "Here are some new bluecoats--Herb. They wear tin stars but are straight." The display of the gift brought a' round of applause among the Ro- tarians. New Policemen Receive First Instruction lalk New members of the Winnetka po- lice department received their first in- struction in marksmanship from Chief W. M. Peterson last Saturday. The chief expressed himself as very much pleased with the showing they made. They were also instructed in various other matters pertaining to the police department, including discipline, vigil- ance at night while on duty, criticism of other members of the department, smoking while in uniform and other regulations. Further instructions are to be given later. Hugo Layer has just returned to his home, 436 Linden avenue, after a stay of seven months in California.
