Beginning January 13 and 14 a class in painting, under the direc- tion of George Oberteuffer will meet each week from 7 until 10 o'clock at Community House, Winnetka. A mo- del will be posed each Wednesday eve- ning and Mr. Oberteuffer will give a criticism on Thursday evenings. Mr. Oberteuffer is an associate of the Salon D'Autome of Paris and was for three years on the faculty of the Penn- sylvania Academy of Fine Arts at Philadelphia. He is instructor in paint- ing at the Chicago Art Institute. Detailed information regarding the classes may be secured by communicat- ing with Mrs. John Vennema at Win- netka 554, it is announced. Sullivan Speed Verdict Reversed by McGoorty Judge John P. McGoorty of the Chi- cago Criminal court last week reversed a former decision sustaining the fine imposed on Dennis E. Sullivan Jr., son of Judge Sullivan, by Police Magis- trate Ralph E. Sinsheimer of Winnetka last summer. Young Sullivan was ar- rested by former Sergt. John Iverson early one morning charged with speed- ing. He asserted that he thought the officers were bandits and put on speed to elude them. In the appealed case before Judge McGoorty Sullivan was represented by his father. The fine was returned, with the consent of Vil- lage President John S. Miller. The next meeting of the Lincoln Avenue circle will be held Tuesday, January 12, at the home of Mrs. John R. Montgomery, 15 Green Bay road, Hubbard Woods. Sewing will begin at 10:30 and a large attendance is ur- gently requested for beginning the New Year. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 o'clock. ---- The East Elm Street circle will meet at the home of Mrs. John C. Cobb, 615 Elm street, Tuesday, January 12, at 2 p. m. Mrs. P. E. Conner, Mrs. A. E.
