Surtax on net income in excess of $10,000. home good housekeeping means easy housekeeping Ask Children, Parents to Sign Safety Pledge School children of 1500 cities and towns in the United States will be asked to sign a pledge jointly with their parents to obey the "Ten Com- mandments of Safety" which are part of the intensive campaign to help cut down the tremendous automobile death toll of the nation, according to an an- nouncement today by Marcus A. Dow, director of the Stewart-Warner Safety Council for the prevention of automo- bile accidents. The child's teacher also is to sign the pledge. Affixing the child's name on the pledge is accom- panied by a serious talk on safety by the teacher. DISPLAY INDIANA ART Hoosier Salon to Open Saturday in Marshall Field Galleries; Open March 8 to 20 Announcement was made this week of the special days to be held in con- nection with the Hoosier salon art ex- hibit, to be held in the Marshall Field galleries "rom March 8 to 20. The salon is sponsored by the Daugliters of Indiana, the Indiana Society of Men and alumni of various Indiana colleges. Any native born artist who has re- ceived his training in Indiana can exhi- bit as well as any artist who has an established periodical residence in the state or who has been affiliated with a group of Indiana artiste for five years. A number of special prizes have been offered by John C. Shaffer, the Daugh- ters of Indiana, Col. George T'. Buck- ingham and the Edward Rector Memo- rial fund. Saturday, March 6, will be devoted to a special exhibit for members of the Indiana Society for men and their wives; Daughters of Indiana, and there husbands; officers of college alumni as- sociations and a few special guests, Monday, March 8, will be all-artists' day, when Chicago artists will be in- vited to attend and meet the Indiana artists. The program for Tuesday and Wednesday will be announced later. Thursday, March 11, is Earlham col- lege alumni day, and Friday, March 12, is DePauw alumni day. On DePauw day, President Murlin of the college will give an address and there will also be speeches by Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes, ex-president of DePauw, Fed- eral Judge James K, Wilkerson, Judge Taylor and Roy West. A luncheon will be held for all DePauw alumni in Field's grill, During the afternoon sev- eral Indiana artists will conduct a gal- lery tour and there will be several talks. Tndiana university will hold a dinner on Saturday, March 13, and Purdue university, Culver Military academy and Butler college are planning lunch- eons during the week.
