The Purple grid mentor will be back in the city Saturday from a two weeks' period which he spent at South Dakota Wesleyan where he con- ducted a coaching school. Coach Thistlethwaite will then be on the scene until the opening of the football season on September 15. He will supervise the arrangements for practice fields now underway at the new stadium and the numerous other duties that must be attended to be- fore the grid candidates report for practice. One hundred of these aspirants for a position on the Purple eleven are expected back this season. Thirteen letter men led by Capt. Ralph "Moon" Baker will form the nucleus around which Thistlethwaite will build his eleven. Baker has completely re- covered from the injury to his ankle which slowed him up last year. Other veterans who will be back are Frank Schumacher and Paul Griffith, half backs: "Ziggy" Solheim, quar- ter back: Earl Bovik and Waldo Fish- er, ends; Rudolph Schuler and Ralph Johnson, tackles: Otto Siebermann. Herman Cohen, Alvin Schuler, and Gordon Rahr, guards. Sophomore prospects are coming up to fill the gaps. Chief of these are Arnold M.
