§ August 28, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 5 Plan Extension of New M'Cormick Rd. Devon to Lincoln Extension of McCormick boulevard from Devon avenue its present termin- us, to Lincoln avenue along the north shore channel is proposed in the plans set forth this week by E. J. Kelly, chief engineer of the Sanitary district. Mr. Kelly announced that the four and a half mile stretch would be open in September. The continuation of the road from Devon to Lincoln would provide out- lets to the southeast and northwest. The project would cost about $25,000 according to Mr. Kelly. Should such an expansion take place on the south terminus of the new high- way it is considered likely that the sanitary district officials will take steps to extend the north terminus through the North Western tracks where the road enters West Railroad avenue. This terminus of the new highway is expected to prove a problem as soon as the south end is opened. Evanston officials are skeptical as to whether Railroad avenue will be able to handle the great amount of motor traffic which will turn into it as soon as the south end of the highway is opened. All but about a strip of 1,000 feet at Howard street, where the Chicago and North Western railroad crosses McCormick road, has been completed by the workmen. Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Mons, 157 Woodstock avenue, left August 15, to spend ten days at Camp Big Horn, Wyo., where their son, Elwood, has been with Mr. Nygaard's group of boys from Kenilworth 'and Oak Park. They will go to Yellowstone Park by way of Cody, Wyo., and return by way of Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, and Denver. Mr. Mons' parents of Rogers Park are occupying the Mons residence during the family's absence. --(-- Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Smith and daughter, Miss Dorothy, of 324 Cum- nor road, have returned from a motor trip to northern Wisconsin.
