ADAMS PHARMACY The Rexall Store Elm & Linden WINNETKA 2 MEMBERSHIP DRIVEL League of Women Voters Launches New Season With Goal of 1,000 Membership; Offers Awards The membership drive of the League of Women Voters opened Monday, October 4, with a tea for precinct chair- men and block captains given by Mrs. George F. Suker, membership chair- man, at her home, 1028 Starr road. | The drive will close October 25, the date of the citizenship school. In order that the Winnetka league may compete for prizes offered by the Illinois League in a state membership drive, membership renewals for 1927 will be collected as well as new mem- berships received. A prize of $20 has been offered to the local league securing the greatest number of renewals and new members Where the neighborhood housewife gets her bakery goods. In addition to the state prizes an | interested member of the 'Winnetka | league is offering Chicago Civic Opera [tickets to the block captain securing the greatest number of members in the local drive. | The Winnetka league with a present | membership of nearly 800 hopes to at- | tain a membership of 1,000 before the | close of the year. The dues of the league are $1 and |are purposely small in order that every woman may be able to join. The membership fee also covers a sub- scription to the state bulletin, which is a magazine on womans part in po- litical issues. Will Give Lecture on New Educational Method An explanation of the Barbareaux system of "educational unfoldment, will be. included in the lecture to be given Monday evening, October 11 at 8 o'clock in the Community House on "Progressive Education and its As- sociation with Music," by Madame Barbareaux Parry, director of the Bar- bareaux school. This school has a musical kindergarten branch in Win- netka. Madame Parry's theory is education by intuition, instead of the mind con- sciously directed.
