October 16, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 45 Ask School Children to Help Preserve Workshop Preservation of the log cabin work- shop and the last resting place of Ed- ward MacDowell, famous composer, in Peterboro, N. H., is to be sought by the National Federation of Music Clubs "as an heritage of American Art." Mrs. Edgar Stillman Kelley, president of the National federation, has announced a country-wide campaign among school children to obtain the $300,000 endow- ment fund begun for the purpose two years ago. Presentation of the endowment is planned for the biennial convention in Chicago, April 16-23. The name of every child who contributes is to be read aloud, the officers have an- nounced, even if it takes more than an entire day to do so. The officers of the North Shore MacDowell society are Frank Ambler of Evanston, president; Miss Barbara Erwin of Kenilworth, secretary; George Pope of Glencoe, treasurer. Friendship Circles Makes Plans for Big Hallowe'en The meeting of the Friendship Cir- cle which took place Tuesday, Octo- ber 12, at the Community House, was pronounced a great success by the twenty girls who were present. Gym work has begun, and the club is taking up basketball in charge of Mrs. Dale. The next meeting of the circle will be held Tuesday, October 19, when election of officers for the year will take place. Plans for a big halloween party will be formulated at this meet- ing, a definite date for the party to be announced later.
