Banking Hours eight to three; Saturdays eight to 12:30 Monday evenings seven to eight WINNETKA TRUST and SAVINGS "The Journalist," Skokie Magazine, Genuine Triumph "The Journalist," school publication | for Skokie, made its first appearance Friday with the October number. Edit- ed, prepared and printed entirely by students in the Skokie school, it repre- sents a triumph in grade school achievement and is a decided credit to its youthful publishers. The cover design, originated by the art department, was printed from a cut that was carved from a piece of linoleum by members of the printing class. It has just enough of a Hal- lowe'en cast to make it fit into the gen- eral spirit of the month and is a splen- did piece of work. The "Journalist" is entirely self- supporting and does not represent any expense to the school. This is made possible by selling an amount of ad- vertising to various merchants of the village and by the return from sale of publication. Without these sources of income it would represent a dead ex- penditure. This is also a credit to its editors. KIDS VIEW "ARCTIC" Paul Warren Shows Movies of Field Expedition to Arctic Waters to North Shore Country Day School Moving pictures and a story of the five thousand mile trip into Arctic wa ters of the Rawson sub-Arctic expedi tion of the Field Museum, were given to the children of the North Shore Country Day school at a morning ex ercise, Monday, by Paul C. Warren, a parent of the school, who was a mem- ber of that expedition last summer. The expedition had been made pos sible by the generosity of Fred Raw- son, of Chicago, and was under the di- rect command of Commander Donald B. MacMillan. The purpose of the trip was to col- lect specimens of birds, flowers and fish, and to attempt to definitely prove that the old Norsemen came down the Labrador coast to America eight hun- dred to one thousand years ago. The expedition journeyed to certain islands off the coast of Labrador and found remains thereon which show that the | Norsemen had reached out from Ice- land across to Labrador. This MacMillan expedition sailed from Maine last June, along the coast of Nova Scotia, Labrador and New- foundland, where they were held back by heavy ice banks, thence across te Greenland for three weeks, then back to Baffin land and down the coast and home. The two boats .were eighty- eight foot sailing vessels. Mr. Warren showed some splendid motion pictures, among them' being scenes of Dr. Grenfell's Labrador col- cern also does work on boiler and brick onies; the Newfoundland fishing fleet and hundreds of magnificent icebergs. { He will bring the second part of the | film to the school, Monday, Novein- "ber 1.
