Octroner 30, 1926 WINNETKA TALK THEATRE GUILD OPENS WITH "AUTUMN FIRE" Irish Drama by T. C. Murray Starts Sixth Season Novem- ber 12 in Winnetka "Autumn Fire" an Irish drama by T. C. Murray, is the opening play of the sixth season of the North Shore Theater Guild. 1t will be produced on November 12 and 13 in Winnetka, and on November 15 in Wilmette. It is one of the finest pieces in drama out of [reland since it dramatic renaissance in 1902. T. C. Murray is one of the younger Irish dramatists and ranks with St. | John Ervine, Lennox Robinson, Pad- | raic Colum, as the most promising of the younger Irish dramatists. He is a | school teacher in Cork and one of his eagle prays, "pirthright," had a| areat success in the Abbey theater, Dublin, in 1910. It was later produced by those players in this country and | received the critic's high praise. The | public was moved by it more than any other play in the repertoire during the winter of 1911 and 1912. Produced in London "Autumn Fire" was produced in Dublin and last year, with an all Irish company, given in London. Sarah All- the Irish Players in their tour in this country, played the leading role in the London production. The play was pub- lished by Houghton Mifflin company the past summer, at which time the Guild procured permission to produce it. It was unanimously approved by guild's composed of Henry Kitchel Webster, Mrs. Laird Bell and Louis Laflin. The play, although laid in Ireland, is not local in its home and the situation is found the world over. It is extreme- ly immediate. "Autumn Fire" is dif- ferent in this respect from so many plays which have come out of Ireland in the last ten years because most of these have been political and social propaganda plays. There is nothing of this sort in "Autumn Fire." The play will be directed by Alexan- | scenery and properties. | Mrs. Enos W. | Holloway, the ! new play reading committee, der Dean, who is beginning his fourth season as director of the guild, and the production will be designed and ex- ecuted by Aleyn Burtis, who has at- tended to the producing the last two years.
