. -- --_---- November 13, 1926 WINNETKA TALK At the Movies VILLAGE THEATRE Distinctive touches, keen insights and high lights on human nature, abound in the Henry King production of Stella Dallas, which will be pre- sented at the Village theatre Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15, 16, and 17. King is a past master in the wizardy of making a big drama- tic punch hit hard and true by inject- ing just those bits of life that reveal a film full, in a flash. It will be pre- sented in connection with "Kiss Me Kate" an Educational comedy and a Pathe Review news reel. One of the first of the season's crop of pictures comes Thursday, Novem- ber 18, in "The Lone Wolf." It is a faithful version of the fifth and last of Louis Vance's series of stories wov- en around this romantic character of "Lone Wolf," which have thrilled the reading world for the past five years. A two reel Snookums comedy and a Pathe Review will also be shown. "Across the Pacific," the Warner picture which will complete the week's program for the Village theatre, is a huge spectacular production starring the rough and ready Monte Blue. It is a splendid melodrama built around the love affairs of a buck private who goes with the army to the Philippines to capture the rebel Aguinaldo during the Spanish American war, Billy Dudley in "A Dippy Tar" will be the comedy, THE NEW CAMPUS Beginning next Monday, every Mon- day evening will be "Ladies' Night" at the Campus theater. These evenings women patrons accompanied by men escorts will be admitted free. Screen fans who go to see Tom Mix in "The Great K & A Train Robbery" are advised to take a tight grip on their seats before the thrills of fast riding and other things raises them to mid-air. The feature will be shown tomorrow and Saturday evening at the Campus. Monday and Tuesday will bring Marie Prevost in the comedy, "Al- most a Lady," based upon the story, "Skin Deep" and having as its cen- tral themes the tribulations of a poor modiste's model and the social inclin- ations of a nowly-rich Irish couple. Wednesday will bring Priscilla Dean in "The Speeding Venus," featuring an automobile race across the desert, the high Sierras and against time and villains. NEW EVANSTON Tim McCoy, new and youthful screen star, is on the screen at the New Evanston theater today in his first picture, "War Paint." He is a western man, son of a former army officer, reared among things military, and he himself is now a brigadier gen- eral of the Wyoming state militia and has had the record of being the young- est colonel in the national army. "The Old Soak," starring George Lewis and Jean Hersholt, comes to the screen with Monday's change of bill. THE NORSHORE Thrills of the sort you see once in a lifetime are promised motion picture patrons in "Men of Steel," First Na- tional's big steel photoplay, which comes Sunday to the Norshore theater, with Milton Sills in the starring role and Doris Kenyon as the featured feminine player. Sills, always known as a "he-man," in past pictures has been called upon to perform some difficult feats, but in "Men of Steel" he is said to surpass anything he has ever done on the screen both in scenes calling for strength and courage and in acting. Sills would not allow a double to take his place. It was his picture and he took his chances. THE GRANADA A spectacular Russian presentation by the producer of "The Song of the Flame" and Leatice Joy in "For Ali- mony Only" are the features at the Granada this week. Jack Haskell is presenting "Russian Revels" in which a galaxy of Russian choir soloists as well as native dancers appear. Begin- ning next Monday, David Belasco's great stage play, "The Return of Peter Grimm," will be shown. This will be the first showing of this picture in the United States.
