Cummins, 40, residing at 286 Ridge avenue, Winnetka, was in- stantly killed at about 8:30 o'clock last Sunday evening when the car in which he was riding with two com- panions suddenly left the road, crashed through a fence and turned over twice near Thompsonville, Conn. Douglas Thompson of Farmington, Conn., with whom he had been visiting was also killed, while a third member of the party, Lewis Troxel, was seriously in- jured but will recover. Mr. Cummins had gone East to at- tend the Yale-Harvard football game and was enroute between Farmington and Springfield when the accident oc- curred. He was born July 25, 1886 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben- jamin F. Cummins of 286 Ridge ave- nue. Previous to attending Yale he was enrolled in Lake Forest academy where he studied in preparation for the larger school which he entered in 1905. He was a member of the Colony club of New Haven, the Indian Hill club of Winnetka, and the Racket and University clubs of Chicago. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Julie Cummins Walcott, wife of Ches- ter Walcott of 548 Orchard lane, Win- netka, and two neices, Helen and Julie Walcott. Funeral servces were held from the residence Friday morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. E. Ashley Gerhard of Christ church, officiating. Burial will be at the Lake Forest cemetery. Sunday, December 19, at 4:30 o'clock, is the date set for the Christmas pag- eant at the Winnetka Congregational church. This will be a religious serv- ice for the young people and children.
