Oa |, § December 18, 1926 WINNETKA TALK Baker Loomcraft Experiences Fine Success Locally Among the many surprises in store for north shore residents who have interested themselves in local places of novel or unique character is the Baker Loomeraft Studio, located at 1103 Cen- tral avenue, Wilmette, and operated under the direction of Mrs. Hart Ed- ward Baker. Started as a hobby or side line years ago, it has developed from the one side of the studio's activities. Little clothes and blankets, in the softest of wools and the most delicate of shad- ings, are most pleasing. Miss Walker's school at Simsbury, Conn., claims many north shore young people as graduates. Miss Emily Fen- tress, daughter of the Calvin Fentresses of 939 Green Bay road, Winnetka, re- turned Friday, December 17, to spend the vacation season with her parents. --0-- Miss Alice Allen will arrive in Glen- loom state to its present proportions |coe, Saturday, December 18, from of two store rooms and a number of modern, hand-operated looms designed especially for the weaving of all types of articles from the simplest of scarfs and the daintiest of baby clothes to the prettiest of dresses and robes or uniquely designed rugs. Recently, because of the increasing volume of business, Mrs. Baker has found it necessary to install more looms and to take over more space in which to house them. As a result she is now announcing a re-opening, at her old place of business, to which has been added the store room adjoining. Perhaps the most interesting and original part of this novel industry, however, is the product itself. Woven from carefully selected woolens, some- times dyed to the exact shade desired by Mrs. Baker or her co-workers, they involve pre-planned designs and are made in accordance with the tastes or wishes of the individual purchasing them. Entire outfits, including dresses, scarfs, top coats, etc., made in the same pattern and color scheme, forming a most delightful combination. Nor is the selection limited to apparel for women. Equally pleasing are the men's jackets, dressing robes, or smok- ing jackets.
