Representatives from the village of Winnetka, Merle Waltz, president of the village of Glencoe, and several other members of the councy, a re- sentative from the State Highway de- partment, Don E. Marsh and Frank A. Windes, of Windes and Marsh, engi- neers for the work, and representatives from the city of Highland Park will meet at the corner of Scott avenue, Winnetka, and Sheridan road, to take part in a ceremony opening the road to the public. Messrs. Farmer, Quigley and Walther of the Highway Construc- tion company, contractors for the work, will also be included in the group of officials. This meeting will formally complete the concrete paving of Sheridan road from Wilmette through Highland Park, work that has eithar been under con- struction or in litigation for several years. State Aid Road The plan for the paving of the road through Glencoe, was carried out by special assessment and an appropria- tion from the State Road funds. Of the $190,000 expended the property owners benefited, paid $100,000 and the state $90,000. The state also construct- ed the three large bridges over the ravines, and a good part of this has been in the courts for three or four vears. The actual paving project has been going on since August, 1926. It so happens that the state has just completed its County line pavement, and the construction of the four Coun- ty line bridges, so this strip of Glencoe road, together with the state road, will make a continuous strip of 30 foot reinforced concrete pavement running through several villages along the north shore.
