dl RE J WINNETKA TALK January 8, 1927 Does the Robin Ever Leave Our Temperate Clime? The conflicting forecast of what the remainder of the winter season is to bring forth in the way of weather was finaally adjudicated by Magistrate C. T. Northrop, Monday morning, at his office, 556 Center street, Winnetka, even though it was only three days after New Year's. Testimony from some of the most prominent weather prognosticators of the land had been heard, substantiat- ing their contention that this was to be the "rip-roarinest" winter this coun- try had witnessed in many years. Others had testified that January, February and March, "the backbone of the winter," are to be very mild sealed caps. Ask Our Drivers Greenleaf 820. The wild fowl, ducks and geese, evi- dence shows, have been none too posi- tive in their decision as to just what to expect. They have been flitting back and forth during the past several weeks, from San Jacinto to Hudson bays, undecided where to camp to in- sure the greatest degrees of comfort. But Monday, as Magistrate North- rop sat in his office looking across the street into railroad park, Winnetka, he suddenly began whistling, "When the Red, Red Robin, Goes Bob, Bob Bobin' Along," and declared then and there, that the big red robin red breast which, at that moment dodged the rain drops and snow flakes and alighted in a tree across the street, was the real har- binger of spring, and like Solomon of old, Judge Northrop adjudicated the perplexing question of today--""the weather." Robins are harbingers of spring, the first one of the year has arrived and Judge Northrop insists this will be a short, mild winter with spring just in the offing. dreds of housewives call in Bill the Washington Laundry Man.
