A. G. O., will give a program sponsored by the Illinois Chapter A. G. O., and the nationa! as- sociation of organists. A graduate of the New England Conservatory, winner of the "earned" associate degree of the American Guild of Organists, pu- pil of Widor and of Libert in Paris first prize-winner in the Fontainebleau contest of 1921, he is one of the most distinguished young organists in this country and one whom his teacher Widor called "a truly remarkable art- ist." His program which includes so great a classic as the Bach "Fantasia and Fugue G Minor," lists also some de- lightful transcriptions in the playing of which he is noted for his "fastidi- ous taste and fine registration." Mulet Viennese Educator Will Lecture at Northwestern Dr. Arthur Haas, professor of phys- ics at the University of Vienna, will be a guest of the department of physics, Northwestern university, March 29. He will lecture during the morning of that day to students in physics, an event that also will be open to the pub- lic. In the evening he will deliver a second address, probably in Harris hall, Evanston campus. The topics of his addresses at Northwestern will be : "The Atom as a Source of Energy" and "Objective and Human Physics." Dr. Haas, who bears an enviable rep- utation in European scientific circles, is making a tour of the United States and has selected Northwestern wuni- versity as one of the institutions he desires to visit and where his messages on scientific matters will reach a sym- pathetic audience. Purple Track Team Has Easy Win Over Purdue Northwestern's track team had an easy time winning from Purdue Friday night by a score of 56 to 25. The Purple athletes took first place in 7 of the 9 events and won all three places in two of them. Tiny Lewis was high scorer of the meet, with firsts in the shot put and high hurdles. North- western won all three places in the shot put and the two-mile run. The Purple swimming team lost a close meet to Minnesota Saturday night by a score of 36 to 33. The meet was tied at the close of the individual events. Victory in the medley relay gave the Gophers the edge. Wally Colbath, star Northwestern diver, con- tinued to show his superiority in that event by easily winning first place. CARRIE S. Winn. 1226 | Pi Phi Alumnae Sponsor Performance of "Penelope" The alumnae of Pi Beta Phi spon- sored a benefit performance of "Pene- lope" at the Goodman theater, Chi- cago, Monday, March 7, the proceeds going to their settlement school fund. Miss Anne Guthrie, Chicago execu- tive of the Y. W. C. A. and president Miss Mae Morey, 1129 Main street, was in charge of ticket selling by members of the Northwestern Pi Beta Phi chapter. The Little Pigeon Settlement school was established by Pi Beta Phi in 1912 with an attendance of 13 pupils. The present enrollment is 125. The third year of high school has recently been added to the curriculum, and the en- tire school is maintained by Pi Beta Phi.
