e----r ---- WINNETKA TALK March 26, 1927 LEE Says: IF all the people HERE in Winnetka WERE exactly alike, WOULDN'T life be a heck OF a bore? PERSONALLY, I'm mighty GLAD that people are DIFFERENT --that we don't LOOK alike or talk ALIKE--and when THE gang gets to singing OVER at the Rotary Club I'M thankful that all VOICES are not like some OF the voices I hear! AND when it. comes to ICE cream, you'll find THAT Luick's--the kind WE serve you from our FOUNTAIN--is just a LITTLE different from THE ordinary run of ice CREAM---you'll notice THAT Luick's is "smooth" AND rich, with a delicate FLAVOR that makes a hit WITH your taste and makes YOU wish you might HAVE just a little more-- COME in and see if you don't AGREE that my ice CREAM judgment is good. EXTOL WORTH OF "VIGORO" "How to Grow Velvety Lawns, Beautiful Flowers and Luxuriant Shrubs," a subject in which every home owner particularly is interested, at this time of year especially, is treated in a little booklet issued by Swift & company in describing the value of its product, "Vigoro," as a specially prepared plant food. Vigoro is sold in Winnetka by the E. B. Taylor Hardware company. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FAVORS BAND TAX IDEA (Continued from Page 1) band to amount to much if its mem- bers have to be worrying constantly about money. Let's put music in our annual budget by passing the band proposition at the April election, and stop passing the hat! Avoid "Passing the Hat" "The largest portion, if not all of the Fourth of July and Memorial day celebration expenses can be paid out of the band fund and the village would not have to pass the hat each year for these celebrations. "An estimated cost for the band the first year which would be larger than any of the following years, since buy- ing supplies and outfitting the band would require about $9,000 or less than 1.5 mill tax. "The increase in taxes to the aver- age taxpayer in Winnetka would be from $1 to $3 a year or from eight to twenty-five cents a month. Let us show our neighboring towns that Winnetka still leads in her public ac- tivities by voting 'yes' on the band proposition." C. OF C. ELECTIONS The annual election of officers of the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday, April 11. Formal installation of the officers then se- lected will be held at the May meet- ing, to which officers from the or- ganizations of neighboring villages will be invited. The meeting will be preceded by a dinner and the trans- action of regular business. A nom- inating committee, composed of Dr. J. E. Fonda, Paul Reschke, John Hoth, A. F.
