"We plan to give Chicagoans and north shore residents a year-round sports-and-social-center that will com- pare favorably with any that may be found in California, Florida, or abroad," said Commodore Blackton upon his arrival from Los Angeles. "There has been notable development in seaside resorts during the past sev- eral years and in California and Florida the life and color at the beaches has proved a tremendous asset. Rival Southland Beaches "With a beach that in many ways pictorially surpasses those of the South, Vista del Lago will bring a new form of club life to this vicinity. In addition to club facilities, to include modern features ranging from the chil- dren's wading pool to rooms en suite for permanent club residents, there will be a year-round program of sports and arts activities. Women, of course, are to have equal privileges in Vista del Lago and the club itself will be pre- eminently for 'Every member of the Family Every Day of the Year."
