At the Skokie school, Rev. E. Ashley Gerhard of Christ church spoke in tribute to those who fell during the World war and in commemoration of the anni- versary of the signing of the armistice. At the Hubbard Woods school, Harry Clark, director of athletics at Skokie school, told the children of the effect the event upon the soldiers in France and talked briefly of the war. Hubbard Woods Fifth Grade P. T. A. Meets A meeting of the room mothers of the fifth grade of the Hubbard Woods school was held last Wednesday after- noon with Mrs. Stanley Simpson, chairman of the group, presiding. Twenty mothers were present and took part in the discussion of the goal books which are used in the Win- netka system. Following the meet- ing tea was served. The country-club feature of this newest recreational organization was added to the plan shortly following the beginning of construction of the beach club building. Located on Waukegan road, within a fifteen minute drive of the parent club, two eighteen-hole and one nine-hole golf courses are being laid out. One of the eighteen-hole courses already is rounding into shape enough to offer excellent sport to the members next spring. The recent sum- mery weather has been of great aid to the landscape-gardeners in their condi- tioning and planting of the important fairway and greens grasses. English Mansion Club An old English mansion is being used as the nucleus for the potential club- house, which will be fully equipped to meet the needs of those who have trudged through 36 holes of golf. A fea- ture of the economy program injected into the project is the limiting to actual necessities in the way of food at the course clubhouse, while the beach clubhouse will offer the products of one of the finest dining rooms in Chi- cago. A private bridle-path and a bat- tery of tennis courts for those liking strenuous exercise will be situated near the golf courses. Among the privileges to be enjoyed by members of this club, of which there are already between 1,800 and 2,000, are a private beach--the club having riparian rights with its property; in- door swimming, a fully equipped gym- nasium, including hand-ball courts, bowling alleys, card rooms, a ballroom. a glass enclosed promenade, barber and beauty shops, billiard and writing rooms, library, a nursery, and an ice- skating rink. An unusual feature will be the bathers' grill, where table ser- vice may be had without changing in- to street attire. In addition there will be 250 guest rooms at the disposal of members and their friends. J. E. Roy, President J. E.
