Dr. Gibbons is the author of one of the leaflets on "Reading with a Pur- pose," published by the American Li- brary association and distributed in the Chicago Public library, which have been severely condemned by Mayor Thompson. At ths meeting Dr. Gibbons will be subject to questions regarding his part in the alleged pro-British propaganda. TEMPLE PLAYERS TO MEET The Temple Players, formerly the Senior league of the North Shore Con- greation Israel, will meet Sunday eve- ning, November 20, at 8:15 o'clock, at the home of Mark Kalischer, 1037 Ridge avenue, Evanston. All young people of 21 years or over who are in- terested, are welcome. Miss Eva Wilson of 623 Spruce street left the village yesterday with her sister, Mrs. W. H. Hand, of Adrien, Mich., to spend about six months in California. They will spend some time at Dr. Margaret Levick's place at Mon- terey. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Maynard of 1066 Spruce street are now at Dr. Levick's. --Q-- Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Bonner of 245 Scott avenue, Hubbard Woods, have left for the East to attend the Harvard-Yale football game. They ex- pect to spend a few days visiting friends in Boston and New York. Children Contribute in Clothing Fund Campaign Contributions to the school children's clothing fund, which is made up each year under the supervision of the Chicago Woman's club at Thanksgiv- ing time, are now being received at the various schools throughout the north shore and Chicago. The proceeds from this drive are devoted to the supplying of clothing to children who are too poor to procure adequate clothing for themselves, or whose families cannot furnish such apparel. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED The engagement is announced of Miss Ruth Elson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Elson, 944 Sheridan road, Wilmette, to Irving E. Meyer- hoff of Chicago, son of Manuel Meyerhoff of Houston, Texas. Mr. Meyerhoff was a Tau Delta Phi at the University of Chicago and Miss Elson was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi at Northwestern university. BETHROTHED Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Metzel of 307 Cumberland road, Kenilworth, an- nounce the engagement of their daugh- ter, Winifred, to Ballard V. Higbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Higbee. The wedding will be an event of the spring. BROADCAST INTERVIEW Gaar Williams of 90 Lakewood drive, Glencoe, cartoonist, broadcast over the Tribune station, WGN, Sunday. Mr. Williams really gave a radio interview as he answered questions concerning his work, as well as describing the de- velopment of his ideas for his cartoons.
