Northwestern debaters will meet the University of Michigan and Ohio State teams in a triangular debate Jan. 20 on the question: "Resolved--That the principles of the Baumes laws of New York state should be enacted into law by the other states." Men composing the negative team will journey to Ann Arbor to debate with the Michigan team, while the athrmative team remains here to meet Ohio state. Members of the negative team are John Doesburg, Julian M. Lambert and Samuel Givens, and the affirmative team is being chosen this week in trial debates with Knox col- lege. Rich- ards, Mrs. Rudolph Matz, Mrs. Fletch- er Marsh, Mrs. Morris K. Wilson, Mrs. Wheaton Augur, Mrs. William G. Hib- bard, Mrs. Roland Whitman, Mrs. Ers- kin Wilder, Mrs. J. Lawrence Hough- teling, Mrs. August Magnus, Mrs. Henry Stanton, Mrs. Harry Edmonds and Mrs. Gerald Butler, all of Win- netka. The program will be presented joint- ly by two well known north shore artists, Walter Spry, Evanston pianist, and Valona Brewer, Winnetka violin- ist. Both are members of the faculty of the Columbia School of Music. The first program, given on Decem- ber 8, was devoted to the early com- posers, from the Elizabethan era te Beethoven. The coming recital will represent composers of the 19th cen- tury. Mr. Spry will open the program with numbers by Schubert, Mendels- sohn and Schumann; Mrs. Brewer will follow with Caesar Franck's sonata for violin and piano; and Mr. Spry will close the evening with a Chopin group. Merle E. Maupin will act as accom- panist for Mrs. Brewer. WELFARE BOARD TO MEET The Winnetka board of Infant Wel- fare society will hold its annual meet- ing on Monday, January 16, at the home of Mrs. Dwight F. Green, 329 Chestnut street.
