Housewarming Edition WINNETKA TALK March 3, 1928 To be inadequately insured is only one step away from having no insurance at all. TO BE SAFE--SEE F. J. BUDINGER 1167 Wilmette Avenue Phone Wilmette 1750 Another Boost for Wilmette The past few years have brought forth many changes on the north shore. Buildings of all descriptions, residential and commercial, have taken rapid strides to beautify our surroundings. The most recent of these commercial, is the new plant and office building of our local newspapers, which is really a great boost for our community. Directly connected with building, both residential and commercial, is many forms. J. H. SCHAEFER 8 Co. is a local representative for some of the leading [loses Sons =) Insurance companies of the country, in "Boarp_£ which they have placed a good part of ST the Lloyd Hollister Inc. Wilmette 364 Wilmette 3 h \ INSURANCE in its "REALTORS | New Plant Carries All Types of Insurance HEN the construction of the Lloyd Hollister Inc. building was com- pleted, the insurance men appeared on the scene for inspection. They "went over" the plant from top to bottom, front to back and side to side and when they had finished the verdict was: "This building is as fireproof as any building can be." Fire prevention was one of the first considerations when the plans were drawn. As a result the boiler room always the source of fires, was given a segregated position, the only opening from it being an approved fire door. There are no floor openings to induce drafts. Further protection against minor fires is established by fire extinguish- ers which are provided throughout the premises. The Youngberg-Carlson Insurance company offers the information that the Hollister Publishing plant is so built for safety that it has been able to grant the minimum fire insurance rate. When an insurance company does that it spells "Safety." MPLOYES of Lloyd Hollister, Inc., find effective protection in Work- men's Compensation, employers liabil- ity and public liability insurance in a policy with Travelers, for which R. M. Johnston and company, 340 Linden avenue, Wilmette, are agents. This form of insurance not only pro- tects employer and employes in cases of injury sustained in conjunction with their work but contains a clause, as well, which serves as protection in the instance of any casualty to the public on or about the premises of Lloyd Hollister, Inc. The firm carries a com- plete coverage of this type of insurance. ODERN commercial and industrial concerns regard complete insur- ance coverage as a necessary protec- tion and this applies no less to "roll- ing stock" than to building, equip- ment and other items of property. Rolling stock, in the instance of Lloyd Hollister, Inc., includes five vehicles listed as motor trucks and automobiles. F. J. This form of insurance has became extremely popular on the north shore, according to Mr. Budinger, and is characterized by him as the last word in protection for a firm that has five or more motor vehicles." IREPROOF construction of its new printing plant places Lloyd Hollis- ter Inc, in the unique position of having the lowest insurance rate of any commercial enterprise in Wilmette, if not the entire north shore, according to D. E. Allen, Jr., of the firm of Ed- dington and Allen, Wilmette real estate and insurance brokers. The Lloyd Hollister rate on the building is 13.8, the lowest recorded in insurance records for Wilmette. The lowest possible rate is 7. The Hollister rate on contents is 53.4, which is also regarded as unusually low for a com- mercial establishment. All this makes Lloyd Hollister Inc., an excellent insurance risk, says Mr. Allen. Through Eddington and Allen, poli- cies of the Springfield Fire and Mar- ine company and the Royal Insurance company are carried by Lloyd Hollis- ter Inc. The coverage on contents in- cludes, principally, linotypes, folding machines, presses and other machin- ery. N ZITALLY important in the various phases of insurance covering Lloyd Hollister Inc. properties is that of Contents Insurance. J. H. Schaefer and company of Wilmette are agents for the Orient Insurance company with which Lloyd Hollister Inc. carries a Contents' policy covering linotypes and a great variety of other machinery. The fireproof construction of the printing establishment results in a re- duction in premium rate approximat- ing 50 percent, and comprises an ex- cellent risk, according to J. H. Schae- fer, president of the Schaefer company. Modern Methods of Hardening Floors Employed in Plant FE THE, development of modern con- creting methods the value of floor surfaces that will not rust or absorb water has been discovered. Therefore in building its new publishing plant Lloyd Hollister Inc., did not overlook this important essential and there will be found in all the offices, floors on Which a special floor hardener has been used. A liquid hardener that controls con- crete has been used. This is Master Mix, which is manufactured by the Master Builders company of Cleveland, O. This liquid is not only water and dust proof, but is wearproof and pro- vides a sure bond with concrete. In order to cover the office area of the new building it was necessary to use more than one hundred gallons of Master Mix, which filled more than two barrels. This provided a one half inch top which is sufficient to hold thousands of pounds of weight daily and which will last indefinitely. It is only in the last few years that Master Mix has been used. It is now being used in many of the largest build- ings in the country, many of these be- ing skyscapers. Aside from its other important fea- ture Master Mix finishes a floor that offers a maximum resistance to the ac- tion of acids and oils, and last but not least it should be mentioned that a neat appearance has been produced in the Hollister Inc. offices.
