WINNETKA TALK March 10, 1928 Let's All Pull Together! Village-Wide Canvass March 11 Winnetka Community House OU'VE all enjoyed Community House during these past years. There's something here to interest everybody-- wholesome, worthwhile activities in which the entire village can participate. It is the greatest harmonizing factor in the com- munity--a model for other institutions of its kind all over the country. Now comes your chance to give this splendid movement your support. With one stroke of the pen, you can help take care of all donations for the year that would otherwise be solicited separately by many organizations. The Community House needs your support, and that of every citizen. Some rooms have been without a change of furniture since 1911. A new large playroom is needed, with varied game equipment. There is a demand for an arts and crafts shop. Existing facilities have been taxed to the limit by an ever- growing attendance. $28,000 must be raised this year, of which $16,000 is already pledged from other sources. Winnetka Camp Fire Girls in their special room in Community House. Think of the fine things Community House is doing--teaching foreigners the English language, instructing in the duties of good citizenship, providing a club for boys without homes. offering sport and diversion to dozens of groups of men and women, boys and girls. WHO ELSE USES COMMUNITY HOUSE? Class--twice a week Orchestra League of Women Voters Modern Woodmen Motion Pictures--twice a week Royal Neighbors North Shore Nurses Skokie School Basketball--3 per week The Troubadors--Hubbard Woods Glee Club Sunday Evening Club Base Ball Games Political Meetings Chess Tournament Scout Exhibition Picnics for Onward Neighborhood House Weddings and Receptions How much would you give separately to the Boy Scouts, the Campfire Girls, the visiting nurse, and other deserving activities. Make one check to cover all. This year's cards provide also for 1929 pledges, so you can cover two years at once. Nearly 200 solicitors will make the rounds on Sunday afternoon, March 11th.
