March 17, 1928 WI N:NE T. KA: TALK 7 PLAY SCORES SUCCESS "Love in a Mist," Presented by Com- munity Drama Club at Community House, Charming Presentation By Critic One more success was scored when the curtain rose on a setting for the March play of the Community Drama club, "Love in a Mist." Directed skill- fully by Mrs. Louis Sherman, produced under the capable and artistic leader- ship of Mrs. William Wersted, assisted by Mrs. Rothermel and Mrs. Craig in charge of properties; assisted by Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Feagans, and Mrs. Jack Hazelhurst in stage settings, with Mr. Morrison, Mr. Scharf and Mr. Plow- man "back stage," the play began as a charming picture. It soon developed into an intriguing comedy in the hands of Mrs. Eugene Rummler and Miss Katharine Shaw, each of whom played and looked her part excellently. Miss Dorothy Olten is a newcomer in the group of Community Players and carried a long and difficult part admirably. She is on the staff of the Skokie School and a welcome ad- dition to the stage group. The men of the play, Mr. Davies Lasier and Moncure Paynter, are well known to Winnetka audiences and were most excellent. Both have done work in the Theater Guild plays and brought their skill and experience to a fine test in "Love in a Mist." Two very competent darkies added fun and reality to the development of the plot and could be recognized only by their names on the program--DMrs. John Marshall and Taliaferro Milton. Costumes, in charge of Mrs. Ballard and Mrs. Craig, were admirably fitted to the time and place, contrasting sharply yet harmonizing beautifully with the whole picture. Mrs. Lyman Weld for make-up and Mrs. Coyne, prompter, co-operated in the work, and much appreciation is felt by the club for the courtesy of the Cable Company through the Brunswick agency and the Iredale Company for piano and transportation; for furniture and pictures loaned by Miss Lindwall and for flowers furnished by Ilg. Monday night was benefit night for Community House and the Community Players were greatly assisted by the many groups using Community House, who sold tickets, advertised the play, and by their attendance and apprecia- tion made the play a success that night. The regular season ticket hold- ers attended Wednesday and Thurs day nights as usual April 11 and 12 will close the year and will offer a novelty. Three one- act plays--a comedy, a tragedy, and a mystery play--will be presented; one of these will be entered in the con- test for amateur groups to be given at the Goodman Theater in May.
