March 24, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Lt : Se 55 Movies of Selves Prove Educational Aid to Youngsters On Monday, March 19, Mrs. Harry G. Phillips entertained the Mary Crane Nursery school auxiliary at her home, 415 Ridge avenue, Evanston, at its regular work and social meeting. The auxiliary, which is growing in membership, interest, and activity, has a number of interesting events on the calendar for the remainder of this month. Monday, March 26, a group of mem- bers will visit Hull House, observing the Nursery school and lunching in the coffee shop. On Wednesday, March 28, the reel of Mary Crane Nursery school, which was taken re- cently for exhibition at the Better Homes exhibit, will be shown at Har- rison hall. Miss Nina Kenagy, direc- tor of the Nursery school, will be hos- tess to the auxiliary for tea in the Alumnae room after the assembly. Assisting her will be all present and former student teachers who have as- sisted in the Mary Crane Nursery school. View Selves as Actors In describing the showing of the Nursery school films to the children themselves, Miss Kenagy said: "Fri- day morning of last week, the children of Mary Crane Nursery school had the pleasure of seeing themselves as actors in their own movies. To the staff, the reactions of the children were per- haps more interesting than the movie itself. At first the children sat spell- bound until they began to recognize one another on the screen, then joyous laughter, and shouts of glee followed throughout the showing of the entire film, 'There's Mary Rita," 'That's Me,' 'lI saw another Nickie," said Nickie himself to one of the teachers. 'Where's Eleanor?' said Eleanor her- self, when she recognized her own lunch table and did not see herself. She had been absent the day the pic- ture had been taken. "Little Barbara walked up to the screen and touched it when her pic- ture appeared, then evidently not satis- fied, she went over and looked behind it, but still had a mystified expression on her face. Each time her picture appeared she would go to the screen in a questioning manner. 'There's that going to bed time,' said Ruby Henry, who recently has resented the afternoon nap. 'I'm a nice looking boy," said Mike Laurienti when he saw himself in the airplane which he had constructed. ' Films Teach Correct Habits "One outstanding education result after seeing the picture of little Bar- bara going to bed was of Eleanor saying, 'Me no throw my clothes on the floor. Me hung them on the chair,' although previously each day she had to be prompted. Betty May began singing 'See-Saw Up and Down' when the see-saw appeared. They were all delighted with pictures of their mothers taken in the 'sewing class, and their elder brothers and sisters in the Saturday morning class, calling out their names and saying, "That's my mama.' "We wish we might have -had another reel of the children enjoying their own pictures as they did on Fri- day morning." SUPPER BRIDGE AT CLUB The Kenilworth club is having a supper bridge this evening. This party is arranged by Mrs. Hugh Peterson and Mrs. Thomas White, who will act as hostesses. It is the last regular Friday night's entertainment or party before Easter. On March 30, there will be a dance for the young people who are home from school for the spring vacation.
