Pickard of Evanston, carries the ingenue role of Nan in "The Knot," the three-act play by Marion Lawrence Nelson (Mrs. Her- bert U. Nelson) of Winnetka, written in the Town and Gown play-writing class and to have production by the Playshop at the Northwestern universi- ty School of Speech, May 30, 31, and June 1. The play is to be put on by The Playshop, an organization sponsored by the Drama club of Ev- anston and the School of Speech of Northwestern university. The North Shore Theater Guild has taken deep interest in The Playshop and has taken over the first two nights. Mr. Boyden, who is to take the lead- ing role, played the lead in "Lilac Time," and took the part of Henry in "Henry the Fourth," a Theater Guild production. The cast also includes Mrs. James Cady Ewell of Ravinia; Nadine Shepardson, a well known reader of the School of Speech at Northwestern, who has given recitals {in many of the larger cities and has appeared in professional theatrical companies; Sidney Spayde, a student in the School of Speech, and Dorothy Pickard, Pierre Beach and Jean Burns, all of Evanston. ; Mrs. Charlotte Chorpenning is di- recting the production. She has worked three years with the Baker Work shop at Harvard, during which time she won the Harvard Craig prize. She has had a play produced on Broadway and has had experience all over the spoken English for two years. She is a member of the Evanston Junior league, and her engagement and ap- proaching marriage recently have been announced.
