June 2, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 148 PUPILS GRADUATE FROM SCHOOLS JUNE 13 Hold Commencement Exercises for Public School Children; School Closes June 14 Graduation exercises for eighth grade pupils of the Winnetka Public schools will be held on Wednesday, June 13, and the winter term will come to an end on Thursday, June 14, it was announced this week. One hundred and forty-eight pupils will receive their diplomas in the ex- ercises on June 13, having completed the courses prescribed for graduation from the public schools and for en- trance into high school. The summer session, which is held each year for a period of four weeks, will: open on Monday, June 18, and will be held at the Horace Mann school. It will. be under the super- vision of Miss LaReina Bubbett of the Skokie school as principal. The teach- ers of the primary grades will be Mrs. Frieda Barnett from the Hubbard Woods school and Miss Millicent Anderson from Horace Mann school. Miss Mildred Julian from Horace Mann and Miss Emily Nelson from Greeley schools will teach pupils of the middle grades and Miss Anna Nechak and Mrs. May Herrick from Greeley | schqol, and Miss LaReina Bubbett will conduct classes for pupils of the upper grades. Sessions will be held every morn- | ing from 9 to 12 o'clock for pupils of all grades from first to eighth. Work will be individual = and confined to fundamental subjects. A small tuition fee will be charged and all registra- tions shoud be in by June 11. No registration will be accepted for less than the full term. Miss Edith Dillon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Dillon, 814 Pros- pect avenue, has been elected to asso- ciate membership in Sigma Xi, the national honorary society of scientists. Miss Dillon will be graduated from Northwestern at commencement this month. Mr. and Mrs. E. Burt Brown of 618 Willow road, left Winnetka, May 23, for an extensive trip in the west. They have been in Los Angeles and now are traveling north. They will include Oregon and Washington in their - journey and expect to return home sometime in August.
