June 9, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 13 Seek Tenants for Winnetka Teacher Apartments Here The Winnetka Parent-Teacher as- sociation has rented three of the five apartments belonging to the teachers but is anxious to rent the remaining two. The teachers have paid for. these apartments through the summer and if they are sublet the rent money can be returned to them. It is hoped that everyone in the village will make an effort to find tenants if for only a few weeks. The apartments are at 309 Meyer building and the right hand apartment on the third floor of the front entrance of the Eckhart building. As the time is short the association will rent the apartments for as short a time as one month. They are com- pletely furnished and the rental is reasonable. The apartments will hold two, three or four persons comfort- ably. Hill and Wheeler, local realtors, have been helpful in finding tenants for the summer and have done so as a contribution to the work of the Par- ent-Teacher association. Residents of Winnetka are asked to call Mrs. W. P. Heyn, Winnetka 3037, if they know of anyone who might he interested in the apartments. Mrs. Robert McKisson, Winnetka 766, will also give information. Mrs. Lawrence Cole, Winnetka 2085, is trying to place teachers in homes where they may stay next fall. She is trying particularly to find a home in the Greeley district and would be glad to get in touch with anyone who wishes to rent a room to one or more teachers, Any furniture. china. cur- tains or other household furnishings that are not being used will be most acceptable for the apartments and Mrs. Cole should also be called in Taam to these sometime after July GOES EAST FOR WEDDING Mrs. Gilbert Scribner of 812 Ash street left last Monday with Mr. and Mrs. William Van Dyke, Jr., of Mil- waukee, for Concord, Mass. Winnetka 1840 | Holiday Shop Notes The Shops have been fortunate in securing for a general chairman, Mrs. John R. Montgomery, who is certain to fill the position most acceptably. Mrs. Roger Ballard is another valu- able acquisition as chairman of Booths and Decorating. She takes the place of Mrs. Louis Sherman, who was obliged to resign. Any woman who can give a bit of time to hand work this summer is urged to send her name to Mrs. Frank Crawford, 623 Cherry street, who will find a congenial group with whom she can work. Hand work means anything from making doll clothes to painting pictures or porch furniture. The sponsors of the Community Cook Book, which is to be on sale at the Holiday Shop, are anxious to pro- cure favorite recipes. of local people, and beg that such recipes be sent, signed, to Mrs. Royal Hoagland, 416 Willow road. The Stop and Shop Booth asks everybody to put aside a sample of the summer's canning and preserving for them. The Picture Booth wants pictures, strange to say. They seem to have no interest in kitchen utensils or automo- biles. Those who cannot paint new ones for them may be able to donate old ones for which they no longer have space. This committee is skilful 'n retouching and reframing. When in doubt about where to send things, or any other point, consult Mrs. Montgomery or Mrs. Crawford.
