June 9, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 27 Purple Loses 26 Men From Athletic Squads Northwestern university loses twen- ty-six letter-men from its athletic teams as a result of graduation this month. Five of this number competed in more than one sport. Football is the hardest hit with nine men complet- ing 'their careers. Six baseball men will also graduate. Gridmen who will be missed next fall are Vic Gustafson and Tiny Lewis, backs; Al Schuler, Rudy Schuler and D. W. Seymour, tackles; Bill Heller- man, center; Waldo Fisher and George Panosh, ends, and Bus Owens, guard. Two basketball men, Waldo Fisher and Bobby Rusch, will be lost to the squad. Coach Hill will lose the services of three star trackmen in Bill Droege- mueller, pole vault; Al Bagge, shot put and javelin, and Frank Rettig, high jump. Swimmers who are gradu- ating are Leon McDonald, Leon Krohn and Morgan Miller. The six baseball players who have completed three years of varsity ball are Luke Johnsos, Carl Mellick, Dave Kempf, Bill Hellerman, Bill Palmer and Al Foster. Rudy Schuler and Foster Rieke are the two members of the wrestling squad who will not be back.
