Elm Street 7 9 at Chestnut : Store on the Corner Wo Telephone 930 Winnetka Miss Grace Herbst Will Spend Summer in Europe Miss Grace Herbst, a rather well known person to most Winnetkans be- cause of her shop on Lincoln avenue where one buys those very correct things, both large and small, which add that distinctive touch to the home, will not be here this summer to greet her patrons and give them her valuable advice on decorative problems. She is leaving her shop very competently taken care of and is going to Europe for two months. Miss Herbst is leaving next Wed- nesday for Montreal and will sail from there on Friday on the Ansonia. She will spend her summer in France and England buying very new and very old things which she will bring back to delight her many patrons here. She will try particularly to find interesting furniture and old fabrics to use in her work as a decorator. Mrs. Howard J. Noble of Rogers Park entertained at dinner Saturday evening, June 9, in honor of Joan Hoble of Hubbard Woods. The guests were Margaret Kluke, Marguerite Behrens, William Blanford, Margaret Jean St. Clair, Dorothy Smith, Helen Rakers, William Randall, Russell Luce, and Robert Long. Or Mrs. Gilbert H. Scribner of 812 Ash street, who left Monday, June 4, with Mr. and Mrs. William Van Dyke, Jr. for the east, is expected to return home next Tuesday, June 19. Fifty Children of Winnetka Take Part in Big Horse Show Fifty Winnetka children took part in the fifth annual children's horse show at the Indian Hill Riding club last Saturday. Capt. John Porter, of Knollwood, and Victor Eltinge, of Winnetka, were the judges for the riding events. Mary Dallas, daughter of Mrs. Don- ald Dallas, of Winnetka, won the cup for first prize in the novice class for the smallest children. Nora Foreman placed second. In the boys' obstacle race Donald McPherson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don- ald McPherson, of Winnetka, won the prize cup, while Edward Scott took first place in the class for children from ten to twelve years old. Fanny McPherson won first honors in the junior girls' jumping class. Betsy Ballard was second. Jane McIntosh won the ladies' sad- dle race. Jane Darling and Fanny McPherson were winners in the' thir- teen to sixteen year old class. First prize in the parents' and chil- dren's stunt was won by Colton Daughaday and his children, Marriott, Colton, and William.
