At the commencement of Northwest- ern university last Monday morning, thirty-two north shore students were graduated with different degrees from the school. Wilmette led all the other villages with its nineteen graduates. Those receiving the highest degrees were Albert T. Belshe who was gradu- ated as juris doctor and Lucian W. Strong, Jr., who was graduated as doctor of dental surgery He received his reserve commission in the United States army at this time. The candidates for the degree of bachelor of arts from Wilmette were Virginia Bixby, Mary L. Harris, Alma V. Jones, Alice King, Margaret Os- good and Mildred Tideman. She was graduated with highest distinction with the degree of bachelor of arts. From Winnetka, Marcia Converse, Wilma Dillon, Dorothy Englehard and Eunice Heinsen were graduated with a bachelor of arts degree, and Virginia Ingram with that of bachelor of science. Marjorie Fiskins was gradu- ated as bachelor of science in journal- ism, Harry Porter as bachelor of science in engineering, and Mary Harding as bachelor of science in speech. The four Glencoe students who were graduated are Genevieve Emrich as bachelor of arts, Agnes Cornell and Louis Jeffrey as bachelor of science, and Irma Otten as bachelor of science in education. Rathbone to Give Radio Talk Over WCFL Monday Henry R. Rathbone, of Kenilworth, congressman-at-large for Illinois, is to make a series of radio talks from sta- tion WCFI,, Chicago, beginning June 25, at 6:30 P. M,, standard time. These talks will be given regularly on every Monday evening at the same hour and will continue indefinitely, probably throughout the summer. They will not take more than ten minutes and will deal with matters of public interest. Mrs. Bruce MacLeish, 85 Wentworth avenue, Glencoe, and Mrs. August C. Magnus of 650 Sheridan road, Win- netka, were north shore members of the board of directors of the Illinois Training School for Nurses taking part in the ceremonies attendant upon the forty-sixth annual commencement of the school, during which twenty-nine seniors received diplomas. Columbia Music School Holding Commencement The Columbia School of Music held its twenty-seventh annual commence- ment week starting June 18 and end- ing June 23, with the conferring of master degrees, diplomas, and certif- icates. On June 18 the accompanying and coaching class under Robert Mc- Donald gave a program. On June 19 the theory and original compositions recital was given under Adolf Bonne. On June 20, the organ department gave a concert at the Second Presbyterian church in Chicago. June 21 the ensem- ble class, under the direction of Ruth Ray, presented a program. Today the annual commencement and orchestral concert, under the lead- ership of Ludwig Becker, will be held in the Auditorium theater. Tomorrow afternoon, June 23, the children's com- mencement exercises and conferring of certificates will be held in the Gold room of the Congress hotel under the direction of Kathleen Air and on Saturday evening, June 23, the com- mencement concert and graduating ex- ercises will take place in the same place.
