32 WINNETKA TALK June 30, 1928 . Miss Sallie Windes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Windes of 244 Forest avenue, sailed from Montreal on June 29, for Copenhagen, Denmark, where she intends to take a four weeks' course in physical education at the Bertram School of Gymnastics. After trips to Germany, Norway, Swe- den, and Scotland, she will return to Winnetka early in September. 1 --_---- ped Mr. and Mrs. Perry Buchanan will be in the J. O. Ely house at 430 Walnut road for the summer. Mrs. Buchanan was formerly Miss Catherine Hinman, 576 Oak street. WIN GOLF PRIZES Winners in the woman's golf tourn- ament at Indian Hill club on Wednes- day, June 27, were Mrs. Grant Ridg- way, who won first prize, and Mrs. C. G. Littell, who won second prize in the tournament. Both are residents of Kenilworth. Mrs. William D. McAdams, 734 Lincoln avenue, will leave on Monday, July 2, for Quebec to sail for Europe July 4. Mrs. McAdams will visit France, Italy, and Switzerland, and expects to be away about five weeks. The Southern Woman's club of Chicago gave the benefit on the one fair day last week. Over fifty tables of bridge were in play, nearly twice the number for which reservations were made. The tables were placed in the garden around the lily pond and among the flower beds. Among the women present were the founder-president, Ophelia Lawrence Blair of Chicago, and Mrs. L. Brackett Bishop, also of Chicago. The chair- man of the party was Mrs. George H. M. Vippert of Chicago. Mrs. Alden is president of the organization. Miss Jenny Boomer, sister of Mrs. John L. Hamilton, 412° Walnut street, left on Wednesday, June 27, for Eur- ope. Miss Boqmer sailed from New York on the Arabic. She intends to make a tour of England, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzer- land. Miss Boomer will return to Winnetka in September. Manor Food Shop Opens at Hubbard Woods Corner Anton Angel has opened a delicates- sen, with steam table service and a complete selection of meats, at 986 Linden avenue, Hubbard Woods, in the north store in the Linden Manor building, Linden avenue and Merrill street. The establishment is to be known as the Manor Food shop, and will be open Sundays and holidays. Mr. Angel has had years of experi- ence in California in a similar line of business, it is said. M. K. Meyer, 455 Chestnut street, and his daughter, Mrs. H. K. Hum- phrey, 560 Elm street, will embark for Furope on July 7, from New York. They will sail on the Columbus, North German Lloyd line, and will land in Bremen, Germany. They will spend six weeks abroad, visiting in Germany, Paris, London, and possibly Scotland, and will return from Southampton in August. --_Q-- Mrs. George D.
