June 30, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 51 Heavy Rains Put Bigger Job on Skeeter Battlers The North Shore Mosquito Abate- ment district, which, previous to th= heavy rains of the past week, had completed the work of oiling all catch basins throughout the "district, is again covering the territory, the work at this time being made neces- sary by the heavy rains. Three of the tank trucks and as many crews of men are thus engaged, while another crew is working out through the Skokie. The dynamiting squad of the Chi- cago Sanitary district, which has not been at work for a short time, expects to resume its operations soon and to complete this part of the work in the near future. Parmelee of Kenilworth has gone east to visit her son, Edward, Bay Saint Louis Bridge on Old Trail Finished Travelers over the old Spanish trail will be glad to hear that a highway bridge has recently been completed across Bay St. Louis, between the towns of Bay St. Louis and Henderson Point, Mississippi, says a bulletin issued by the touring bureau of the Chicago Motor club. "Although the distance between these two points is not quite two miles, yet, before the completion of the bridge, east and west traffic was obliged to follow a long detour around the bay or depend on ferries. The Old Spanish trail, extending east and west across the continent, bears annually a heavy traffic' burden. In the past the numerous streams and low-lying marshes bordering the Gulf | of Mexico, have presented serious difficulties to the motorist.
