A. Sherman of 1062 Ash street, left on Wednesday, June 27, for Europe. Miss Sherman sailed from Montreal on Friday. Besides making a tour of the coun- tries usually visited by travelers, she will also take a short trip to the Holy Land and Egypt. Miss Sherman was graduated from the University of Wisconsin on June 18. She was a member of Beta Sigma Omicron, of which she was president in her senior year, and Alpha Kappa Delta, honorary sociological fraternity. She was also a member of the Wo- man's Athletic association, having won her numerals in riflery and bowling. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lay, 1408 Edge- wood lane, have had as their house guests the past week, Miss June Gid- dings and Miss Sallie Matthews, teach- ers at Mills college, Oakland, Cal, who are spending their vacation on a trans-continental tour from Los Ange- les to Boston, Cape Cod, Washington, D. C., and back again. They plan to stop in Hubbard Woods again on their return west to attend one of the Ravinia opera performances. The group of Winnetka boys who are there now will return to the village Saturday, July 7. Mrs. Eloise W. Wortley is the head counselor who will accompany the girls to the camp. The five other counselors who will asist her are: Mildred Olson, Doris Ferry, Katherine Adams, Mar- garet Stults, and Jean Fahs. The lucky girls who will make the trip are: Constance Addenbrooke, Alice Louise Altschul, Florence Ander- son, Carolyn Barrett, Elizabeth Boden- weck, Henrietta Boal, Helen Bratschi, Harriet Daughaday, Katherine French, Mary Ellen Graham, Jean E. Haskins, Marion Hilpert, Edith Hirsch, Helen W. Holton, Virginia Johnston, Virginia Lang, Kinda Marchini, Katherine Max- well, Margaret Mckenzie, Isabel F. Milton, Martha Lee Morse, Janet E. The aim of the summer camp at Hamlin Lake is to give the boys and girls who go there a character build- ing program and one that will de- velop leadership and initiative. This program includes recreation, fun, work, instruction, and trips of various kinds, "Chief" J. W. F. Davies is the camp director. Mrs. Wortley has announced that there will be a meeting of all girls who expect to go to the camp at 4:30 o'clock next Monday afternoon, July 2. Miss Jeanette Uhlemann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Uhlmann of 162 Fuller lane, and Miss Dorothy Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson of 576 Ash street, will sail today from New York City for Europe. Miss Uhlemann and Miss Thompson will join some of their Roycemore classmates and members of the faculty. Le Mrs. Richard Walsh has gone to her summer home at Castle Park, Mich, and will not return until October 1.
