Whitmore, head of the department of chemistry at North- western university, after a year's study of universities and chemical ir- dustries of the country is resuming his residence in Evanston and activi- ties at Northwestern. His efforts dur- ing the past year have been to bring about closer cooperation between the industries and universities and were done in his position as chairman of the division of chemistry and chemical technology of the National Research council in Washington, D. C He served prominently on the Cen- tral Petroleum committee, which is advisory to the American Petroleum institute in the administration of the half-million dollar fund given by John D. Rockefeller, Jr, and the Universal Oil Products company for the pur- pose of fundamental research on petroleum. Dr. Whitmore was elected this spring to one of the highest honors of the American Chemical society, namely, to serve as one of its direc- tors. This summer he will be director of the American Chemical Society in- stitute which will be in session at Northwestern July 23 to August 18. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Upholstery is of best quality pigskin, blending in with color trimmings and lacquer body finish. Three passengers can be seated comfortably in the front seat. Mechanically, innovations of the sport roadster include the starting but- ton om the instrument board instead of on the floor, and an engine temperature indicator under the glass instrument panel grouped with oil gauge, speed- ometer, ammeter and fuel gauge. A hooded nickel plated dash lamp is pro- vided.
