As its name suggests it is a cir- cular bench or it may be hexagonal, and it completely surrounds the tree. It sometimes has a back against the tree trunk on the inside of the circle, and again it has net. If the yard has no sizable trees, a bench shaded by an arbor trellis gives a shady and serviceable spot in which | to enjoy the open. Formerly garden furniture was mostly green, the obvious idea being that it should match with the foliage and the grass. Or white, to form a contrast, might be used, but other shades were not "the thing." Now garden furniture has taken on color along with pink bathroom fix- tures, apple green washing machines, bright blue walls, scarlet furnaces, tinted gas ranges and colorful roofs and walls. We see the garden tables and chairs which take their color cues from the flowers which surround them, and out- door furniture is blossoming forth in all the colors of the rainbow. One feature which possesses much value in the riot of color it can add to the garden picture is the large sun umbrella, something like the mushroom in shape. These are so large that they can cover an entire settee or table and chairs. This um- brella can incline obligingly in what- ever direction the sun may be. Naturally, if a house has awnings, it is fitting that these umbrellas should match. Or again they may a color scheme entirely their own.
