August 4, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 17 Sings at Benefit | Anne Kanter, lyric soprano, will be one of the soloists at the garden party and musicale the North Shore Con- gregation Sisterhood will give on August 15, at Bornleigh, the home of Mrs. Moses Born, 955 Sheridan road, Glencoe. Miss Kanter is an artisi- pupil of George H. Shapiro, operatic coach and composer of songs. Critics say that she has a crystal- clear soprano voice, beautifully trained, with a very large range. Miss Kanter has poise and self confidence and a splendid stage presence. Her voice is particularly suited to German lieder and to the modern Russian songs. She will sing a group of orig- inal compositions by Mr. Shapiro, songs which are said to be especially interesting for their Jewish and ori- ental coloring. They are modern in spirit and Miss Kanter sings them with fine understanding. Winnetka Man to Build Apt. on Washington St. Oscar H.
