tr WAT A 18 WINNETKA TALK August 4, 1928 FINISH STREET WORK Resurfacing of Numerous Kenilworth Streets Practically Completed; Sub- scriptions Defray Cost Re-surfacing work on several of Kenilworth's streets is practically com- pleted. The work was begun the lat- ter part of June by the Rock Road Construction company. An approxi- mate total of more than 19,000 square yards of street surface has been im- proved. The cost of the work has been covered by subscriptions from abutting property owners. Patching up of the holes in the streets was the first step in the process. A coat of tar was then put on and was covered with pea gravel, after which another coat of tar was applied. Grad- ing with the road maintainer to pro- vide a smooth wearing surface was the next step in the process. Finally, the streets on which work was done were rolled with a heavy roller, and sand applied to take up the excess tar.
