August 4, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 150 Mentors Will Attend Classes at Coaching School More than 150 high school and col- lege coaches will attend the second annual summer coaching school to be conducted by Northwestern university here August 13 to 25. Coaches from twenty-three states will be in attend- ance at the school. Courses in foot- ball, basketball, track, swimming and athletic administration are being of- fered. Coach Tom Robinson, ern's famous swimming mentor, has been added to the staff. Originally he hdd planned to travel west on his va- cation but will remain over for the school. Coach Robinson who has pro- duced many Big Ten champions is recognized as the dean of swimming mentors in the middle west. Northwest- Hanley in Charge Football will be in charge of Coach Dick Hanley, head football mentor at Northwestern. Supplementary lectures will be delivered by Arnold Horween, Harvard; Jess Hawley, Dartmouth; Walter Steffen, Carnegie Tech and Duke Dunne, Harvard. They will speak respectively on backfield play, forward pass, spin plays and line play. Coach Arthur Lonborg who has just completed his first year of Big Ten basketball at Northwestern with a rec- ord of nine victories out of twelve con- ference games will give the course in basketball. Coach Lonborg, a former star at Kansas university, has an en- viable record during his seven years of coaching, winning 84 out of 102 games. Registration will start Monday morn- ing, August 13, and classes will get underway that morning. Football lec- tures and field classes will be offered in the morning and the first period of the afternoon. Jasketball and the other sports will be given in the after- noon. Classes will be dismissed on both Saturday afternoons of the course to permit students to attend the baseball games at Cubs' park.
